You are more than welcome to the other one i have left ( i cut the first one up) if you want to buy it? Its a laser item and is as new, i certainly wont be using it again.
Do you sail in salt water or lake sailing as this seems to make the difference. I sail in salt water and the thing clogged with salt regardless of spraying it with lube. The best thing i have done is binning it for the rooster strap and hook, my sailing is blissfull now!! :)
Dont worry, i am sure there are plenty of other inferior laser products to create a saga about. Seriously though, the rooster clew strap and hook is the way to go, even tho it is a tad more awkward to set up it wins with functionality, and you can rely on it working and not stick like the clew...
I'm only kiddin, i wouldnt sell this thing to anyone. I have just cut it in half and used it as mudguard stays for my TL125 trials bike by wrapping it round each fork leg! No i aint kiddin about that, works better than its original intended use! :)
Dont put yourself down Al my good man, i have every faith in you!! As for surgical steve, whats that saying? You gotta be in it to win it? Well, he wasnt in it!! We will show them all!!
This is the system i use and it works really well. Also you can leave everything on the boom and unless you are a world class sailor the wieght of a couple of tiny blocks and a bit of rope are not going to make a whole lot of difference, even with a gybe i dont think the momentum of the combined...
Hi, i would make up the ouhaul system instead of buying the kits, its much cheaper and better fun tinkering i think. I use a rooster strap and block and hook (£18) two air blocks on the boom (£6.95 ea) and some vectran and rope (£ not much). Another good tip with the outhaul rope is instead of...
Hi, I had the same problem with mine as described in another post. I tried absolutely everything with it but to no avail, eventually i binned it in disgust for a rooster clew strap and block and hook which is it a bit more fiddly to set up but works like a dream, recommended!! The metal sleeve...
Are you sure you dont want to upgrade from your bit of rope clew strap to a nice shiny clew sleeve that dont work. :) Don't think these boys know what trade means!?
Dont even think about buying it! I have an old laser with sail number 8249! and it is completely sound and firm in this area. There are plenty good boats to choose from so dont waste your money. . R.
Also it will depend what kind of sailing you are doing, if its salt water you sail in like i do they seem to jam and if its puddle sailing they dont so it must be something to do with the salt air. R.
Yes, i like the way its easier to hook and unhook, but it works for a while then sticks either out or in, hopeless! And thats with lube. Gimme a rooster clew strap any day. R.
Still not convinced on this system at all! Was out today messing with it for ages trying to get it to work properly but it still sticks after a while (yes its still round and not bent), even with lube. The only reason i am persevering with it is that it has a really good hook arrangement for...
Only problem with replacing with a shackle is that you cant undo it quickly if its V. windy when you need to depower the sail on the shore. Better with a hook i think? ;) R.
