So glad to hear that you like it! I bought it the next day after posting, as it looked promising. Hopefully my son likes it too! Thanks again!

    books about sailing for teen

My 14 year old son has enjoyed sailing the past few summers and is an official certified small boat sailor now. Recently, he has gotten more into boating building vides and sailing videos. I am hoping to get him some boat/sailing books for Christmas. I am not looking for anything specific...

    shopping and fixing questions

Don't know why I hadn't thought to just use a line! Great advice! We will do just that next time we get to take the boat out and report back! This forum has been great for us! Appreciate all of the advice!

    shopping and fixing questions

Hi! We are been sailing several times now in our Sunfish and are all loving it. The halyard that came with our boat needs to be replaced. We also don't have a painter or a daggerboard bungee. The other ropes aren't in the best of shape either, but are fine. I have seen the complete...

I just saw a picture that helped me understand better what you were pointing out to me here. Thanks for pointing it out!

Nice! Thank you! I am a person that needs to do some initial reading to gain some base knowledge and vocabulary prior to engaging in a new skill. This is extremely helpful!

We really hope to! This is the perfect summer to have plenty of time to sail and enjoy the relative solitude of the lake. My husband built the wooden bits of the rudder and reused the metal pin and assembly that was given to us. The extension on the one that was given to us was an old hockey...

Thanks for the tip! I can see what you mean when I look at the picture. Will do from now on! We live in Bloomington, IN (home of IU!) and Lake Monroe is our lake, about 10-minute drive from home. We have joined the sailing association there and are keeping the boat there. But, the...

The boat is staying out at the lake, so I can't look right now as to the year, but if I am remembering correctly is it lat 70s. I will look tonight when we are out there. The first voyage went ok. There wasn't any wind, which was good and bad. The pandemic has kept us from being able to...

Got new sail rings, a new cover, my husband build a new tiller and extention, refinished the daggerboard, and buit a PVC dolly. Free boats can be expensive! After a LOT of hardwork, we finally got to sail!

    cradle for sunfish

Hello! We fixed up our sunfish over the winter and are ready to transport it to the marina for the summer. But we need a cradle for it out there. Does anyone have any plans for making one? Thanks!

Are folks 3D printing their own? Are their set plans out there for a 3D printed daggerboard? I haven't been able to find any. Seems like the best of all worlds?

Nice! Thanks for the tip. Trying to get her all fixed without going broke takes some knowledge.

I think you are right on the daggerboard. After cleaning (it was so gross!), it seems there wasn't rot after all. There is some damage around the edges though.
