I checked the Mike Kilpatrick photo at http://mikekilpatrick.homestead.com/sunfish3.html... if the block for my rudder deckplate comes apart or off with a tug, as did the main cleat block in his photo, guess I'm in for the longer repair.
Thanks for the advice. I hadn't yet gotten to the possibility of setting screws into an expoxy filler in the existing block (I assume the Sailing Texas article is along those lines). Might be a good thing to try first as it's less labor intensive and less invasive: "If it isn't broke..."

Sorry... that 280 lbs was a typo. It's more like 180, but that's still 50+ lbs of water soaked into the internal hull parts (and that's AFTER I used those tiny drain plugs on the old pre-AMF Alcort boats!). If it was 280 lbs, I'd probably be hearing a heck of a lot of water...
