    Books- Rules

Hallo Chris, You can download a pdf file of the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 from the ISAF website. The new rules for 2009-2012 are not far away. Maybe it's worth waiting before you get that book. Jos at <rrsstudy.blogspot.com> is already discussing some of the changes as of 2009. Hope...

    Hikers?

I followed Jeffers advice [see above] and went for the Rooster HikerPro's. I'm 1 meter 83 and 68 kg. I have the small shorts with medium pads. A perfect fit. Tight to get on but the neoprene is looser when wet. I'd have been swimming in the mediums. The hikers are really great. Make such a...

    Outhaul 8:1 diagram ?

Hallo Nora171010, Seem to be two threads running on outhauls. To upgrade mine I used this Rooster link to go to 4:1 http://www.roostersailing.com/merchant2/articles/outhaul.pdf and then added a block on the boom clamcleat to make it 6:1...

Outhaul Rigged on the Back of the Boom

Hallo Viktor, Your diagram is the 6:1 I also use. In my humble opinion a good compromise between purchase and miles of string. Rig it like that, tie a nice handle so that it stops at 'maximum out', another mark at the 'upwind in' point and go out and win some races. Geluk, Andrew

    Hikers?

Thanks Paul, Sounds like the sizing advice from Rooster is good, and at 68 kgs anything that gets me lengthening the straps will be a good thing. It's going to be the Rooster Pro's for me then. Andrew

    Hikers?

Rooster Hikers I was aiming to enter the wonderful world of hikers with the RoosterPro stuff. I was surprised when Rooster suggested I need the small hikers with medium pads. How dare they suggest I'm small. Reading the thread I'm beginning to come to terms with being small in the shorts - as...

    Upwind sail trim

Hallo Rob B, It's the full rig for now. [Though at 48 years and 69 kilos it may not be for long!] Andrew

    Upwind sail trim

Getting back into the Laser after 25 years the biggest change is being able to adjust things while sailing. On the Rooster site I read that for light winds I've got lots of vang and blocks eight inches apart, then for medium winds the blocks are together and no vang. I understand both but...

Purchase in the traveller: is it legal?

An overhand knot over the bowline doesn't alter the fact that you've made a 'simple closed loop'. As for handles: 3 [b]ix. Rope loop handles covered with plastic/rubber tube and/or tape may be included anywhere on the free end of a control line. Hope that helps. Andrew
