Is there any reason not to make the new racing style daggerboard out of wood?

I am needing to purchase a bunch of (what I think are) fairly standard parts to get my old sunfish in a tip top shape. I was wondering if anyone knew of any suppliers around Minneapolis that would be able to help (at a reasonable price), or if I would just be better off getting them all online...
