That makes sense. ZID identifies the manufacturer, which in this case is Laser International (also known as Performance Sailcraft Canada) in Ontario. They built Lasers from 1984-1991.

I don't think you will see much at the marina near the Tidal Basin other than a lot of big powerboats. There is some sailing at the Washington Sailing Marina, which is located off the GW Parkway less than 2 miles south of Reagan National Airport.

I saw a complete pre 1972 rudder assembly for sale at Cape Water Sports in Harwichport, MA. over Labor Day weekend. It was priced at $200, but in mint condition.

I use the Harken 019. It's mounted to the deck with the V10073 eye strap in the same location Vanguard mounts them at the factory. I used 1/4" plywood as a backer plate.
