    How to weigh hull

Any easy way to weigh a hull? And what is ideal hull weight? I seem to remember something like 114 pounds. I am doing hull repair, and after I'm done I want to see if hull is a reasonable weight, or if foam is soaked, and my old 1974 hull is just done. BMF

    Repair leaky 1974 hull

Dear Dan, Thanks for the advice. Today is repair day, part one. Did the air test. I misremembered -- splash guard is fine. (Must have been our other boat.) However the old inspection port that was installed in front of the splash guard -- totally wrong spot, not my installation -- with rivets...

    Repair leaky 1974 hull

Thanks, Dan. The boat has two inspection ports, one btw dagger board and splash rail, the other aft, by the traveller. Both were left open for the winter. I think the splash is leaking because it was in the past. It got hit by another boat years ago -- yes, someone rode up over the hull...

    Repair leaky 1974 hull

My son is going to use my old -- 1974 -- Worlds boat, for his sailing lessons and first year of beginner racing. This boat is a good ol' boat -- seen lots of use. Now it leaks a bit, and we need to fix before the season starts 6/30. (It's been in the garage all winter, and so is good and dry...

    Gooseneck Location

You could also look to www.starboardpassage.com. This is as racing and coaching site, but has very good, simple instructions for both halyard and gooseneck placement. Of course, you might want the halyard somewhat higher for comfort if you're not racing, but I found the gooseneck settings make...

installing clam cleats -- advice needed

This is "returning to racing after 20 years" with another question: When I was racing Sunfish years ago, the preferred sheeting set up was a rachet block with clam cleats mounted on the side of the boat, just forward of the cockpit. Now, at least where I am, it is suggested to have no cleats...

returning to Sunfish racing after 20 years -- advice?

Thank you, everyone, for the tips and advice. Very unfortunately, Eduardo and John Paul Patten did a clinic at my (new) club the day after I joined. I thought the clinic was only for the sailing school class, so I didn't sign up. And as I didn't really have a boat at that point, it would have...

returning to Sunfish racing after 20 years -- advice?

Thanks for that tip. I had the sail set beautifully, wrinkle-free, last week. Today's club race looks to have very little wind, so I will go for the baggy look! BMF

returning to Sunfish racing after 20 years -- advice?

Hi, I'm returning to Sunfish racing after a 20 year hiatus, and I need some advice, help, and dare I say, moral support. Tried to race my old boat last Monday night. I broke, good. It was a great boat in 1974, but the consesus was that there just wasn't much left to it. So after...
