This is a bit random but I build a GIS (Goat Island Skiff) a couple weeks back and I was wondering what would happen if a jib was added to the front. Hypothetically would this work and would it sail well or not. Also, if someone were to build a GIS with the intention of a jib as well as a mainsail what would they have to change, dagger-board placement maybe? Or position of mainsail? Size or shape of the overall boat?
There was some talk about this a few days ago: Who Out There Has an AMF Flying Fish?
Basically, you'd need to move the mast aft quite a bit (and redesign the whole rig really) to balance things, but I'd say a foresail in general is a bad fit for an unstayed lug rig. Why would you want one anyway?
