Both in good condition except option 1 is 1/3 of the price of option 2.
My goals:
* learn how to sail
* sail in protected waters/lake
* sail with family occasionally
* single handing most of the time as well as rigging it on my own
* Maybe racing as well
Both would provide a good experience, but, what about a trailer? You might be able to find more spare parts for the 16.5 Catalina. But if your not concerned about that then go for the cheaper boat.
Two things pop out at me here. One is learn to sail, and the second is single handed. Maybe you should consider learning to sail first. Either boat would be a good choice, but, to single hand a boat with two sails requires practice.
Baseman, you're right, and I will work in learning before adventuring myself. But I meant to say that even after learning I plan to single-hand.
Thanks for your comment!
