hello! Just curious, what do you use to hold the mainsheet ratchet upward? I have been using a spring but I saw some boats with a rubber like support to hold it upward. is it class legal? how does it work? Thanks!!
I used the spring for many years. Sometimes the main sheet would get tangled in it. Now switched to the Harken Stand Up Boot. Works great and won't catch your sheet. Harken Stand Up Boot
The rule says, "The block may be supported by a spring, ball, plastic tube or tape."
If I were a measurer, I'd consider something like the Ronstan RF2455B a "plastic tube"... although it's made of rubber.
My impression is that these have been approved at events with equipment checks.
