I can't adjust my toestrap as easily as the other guys in the fleet. as a result i really struggle upwind and am literally hiking on the tips of my toes. i desperately need help.
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

adjust it before the start, and your good to go, if you need to loosen it while racing, just reach back and pull the knot forwards

scroll down and you'll see the adjustment method, I use method B, its real nice

I also love their hiking strap, it works well with their line and bungee, best one I've ever used

Nope. There isn't only 1 way of doing things ;)

I have enough variation in "tension" by moving where I position the strap on my feet.

From the general weekend sailors that I associate with Ross, none of them ever adjust the strap tension. Maybe its important for you aspiring Olympians (and future ILCA-NA president) but for most of us its a very minor adjustment. Like the traveller - set it tight and leave it except in a real drifter.
What I'd ask 4.7Sailor is "Why you think its just the lack of adjustment in the strap thats the problem ?". You should be hiking off the end of your toes anyway if you're young, fit and want to go as fast as possible. Are you saying you're over-powered when you say you struggle upwind ? Or do you think that if you could loosen the strap, you'd be able to hike further out and so not "struggle" as much ? Are you lightweight ? What sort of winds do you struggle in ?

Well personally I thought that you only need to adjust the strap if you are a bent leg hiker. You have the strap looser upwind but on the reaches it's too loose so you need to tighten it.

If you hike straight legged then it's just tight upwind and on reaches.

Enlighten me ross!

exactly

and as you get more tired during the day, the strap needs to become tighter

actually the problem is i'm not so tall so i need to move my weight further outboard. weight-wise i'm almost touching the optimum mark so that isn't a problem.
