Swimmers Rash is something common to any inland lake, water-way or
ocean. Parents usually teach their kids to always shower promptly after swimming. At
least mine did. Here's a definition I found:
Swimmer's itch, also called cercarial dermatitis, is a skin rash caused by an allergic reaction to infection with certain parasites of birds and mammals. These microscopic parasites are released from infected snails who swim in fresh and salt water, such as lakes, ponds, and oceans used for swimming and wading.
There's a lot of other stuff we've polluted the water with that has short and long term effects,
heavy metals from parking lot runoff, pesticides, pharmaceuticals etc. It's a real chemical
stew.
