Short Mast

Hi all,

I recently acquired 3 sets of masts and booms. One mast is 1 foot shorter than the others, looks original. Also one of the sails has a black triangle, pointing down with a horizontal bar thru it for a logo. Any thoughts about either? Thanks

The short mast sounds like it could be for a Minifish or a Flite 12. The size would be right. The corresponding spars should also be shorter.

The sail insignia of an inverted triangle with a line swiped through it is the AMFlite logo. AMFlite was an alternate to Sunfish also built by AMF prior to 1972. After 1972 the name was changed to Windflite.
 
the short mast is not legal for racing but can be used ok as is. Some of the guys down in the islands, cut their mast short so that it has the same effect as a Jens rig, that lets the upper spar bend off and de-power.
