Sailing canoe?

Hi everyone, im new here. My name is Nick and im 14 years old. I love sailing and have been sailing for a few years. Usually ill rent a sunfish for the day, but that was always a pain, and i did not really like to spend my money on it. Anyway, I havea 15 foot grumman canoe, aluminum, and has a mast block, but i cant find a mast for it. Im thinking i could retro fit a sunfish mast and sail to be useable for my boat, and have plans drawn up for a double side rudder, and folding outriggers. I am woried though, that even with the sponsons, a sunfish rigging would make my canoe too unstable to use safely in anything more than a light breeze. So, what do you guys think? anyone have any experience with this?
