Repair to Sail

Hi, I need to make a small repair to a sail. Could someone please tell me the weight of the sail cloth.

3.8oz for sails most sails still in service..

If the tear is small, any weight between 3 and 5oz will be fine, or if the area to be repaired is not highly loaded or very small (silver dollar size or smaller), sticky back (insignia cloth) is fine
