Should be an easy quesiton for some of you. I am considering adding a hiking strap to a 78 fish and want to know if the lip by the cubby is solid or hollow where you would drill the holes for the rear attachment. I have just spent considerable time getting my boat water tight and I do not want to drill the holes if it is going to be hollow at the lip. I am good on the front attachment as I can get my arm inside the topside port hole and secure correctly.
Feedback from someone who has already tried this would be great.
Click on Sunfish KB and FAQ up above, then click the FAQ link under general discussion and you will find a link for installing the strap. This link hopefully will take you right there: http://www.sunfishforum.com/content.php?pg=faq
Anyway, the lip is hollow, but that is where the eyestraps go. Lots of silicone or 5200 and you will have a waterproof setup. Its been done this way by many, many, many sailors since hiking straps were legalized in 1985 or 1986. BB
