neil pryde recreationl sails

Has anyone tried one of neil prydes recreational sails they are selling for $160

are they cut as full and as powerful as the OEM sail?
I am 200lbs and need all the power I can get

Quote from the website your link points to -"Standard sail designed and built to O.E.M. specifications". I know that Neil Pryde makes top quality sails. Also according to their website, they used to be O.E.M. supplier. Probably can't go wrong, especially if you can live with one of the specials they have right now for $140.

If you want power, you should buy a Sunfish racing sail. BB

I have 2 sunfish, both 1999's. One came with a Pryde rec sail, one with a north rec sail, both with the sunfish class approval decals on them. The Pryde was cut MUCH flatter than the north. The north was flat in comparison to the race sails. The cloth used on the pryde was heavier too.

I have since replaced both with knock off and real race sails. Much happier.

Even on large yachts it's a cost cutting trick to make replacement sails flatter than OEM. Buyer Beware.
