Laser 2 Questions

Can anyone tell me why the forestay on the Laser 2 is connected to the U bolt on the bow by a rope? Does anyone use a snap shackle for this connection? Another question is I need to get a trapeze system. Does the system Vanguard sells include everything including the harness?
Thanks

Having a LII for several years the only reason I can think is: the front forstay connected by a rope is all that is necessary. The forstay serves no purpose other than holding up the mast when not sailing. When rigged for sailing all the tension is on the wire inside the jib. A shackle may not be used as it could cause abrassions on the jib when sailing and the rope is smother and non-binding.

as far as i know the kit only includes the rigging, the harness would be extra.
as far as the forestay issue goes.... i have sailed laser2's with a shackle for the forestay and ones tied on and since the forestay is loose when your sailing the shackle rattles around and it makes me worry that somethings falling off or breaking, so it always seemed soo much nicer to sail with the rope :)
