Hi guys! So I'm pretty new to sailing, and was hoping you guys could give some ideas of where to begin. As my name implies, I'm landlocked in Wyoming at the moment. I have a fair sized lake I could sail on, with plenty of wind. Ultimately I want to make a trams Atlantic voyage one day. So with keeping that in mind, can anyone recommend a good style of boat for learning on and some beginning reading material? I've already started reading up on different knots, and blue water sailing magazine... Thanks in advance, I hope to hear from you guys soon!
Ahoy!! I just started sailing, I bought a AMF Alcort Minifish to learn on. I was going to get a Sunfish but I wanted something easy to car top to the lake, this boat showed up so I bought it. Its shorter than a sunfish and a little bit lighter, and I bought a book called "Lets Go Sailing" I have found it useful. I just went out on the water today with the mini, the wind and the waves ...Awesome..
