Yes I have pictures...If you are going to to do this practice is the key. If you have some old rub rail to experiment with...It kind of like welding you have to do it perfect. The key is the right amount of heat without melting the trim. I used map gas in a handheld torch heating for about 30 seconds then cooling with water and then bending. If you get it too hot the trim will melt and distort or just break and fall on the floor. If too cool it wont be soft enough and you can reheat...It wasn't that hard ...I am a marine mechanic by trade and also a welder...so I know about metal...I read something about heating and bending aluminum on the internet and I said ..."I can do this" and got to work....many thanks for the suggestions from the forum members as I wouldn't of though of these ideas...Really cool. I need to try this. Do you have any pictures?
Funny you ask. I took my last vacation day yesterday and took her out sailing. nice day 80 degrees 10 mph wind on lake Hartwell . Looking at her I was really torn on which boat to keep... I'm going to shrink wrap this one for the winter and use the trailer to do the fiberglass work on the newer one and decide in the spring...The 1999 sunfish hull does need a lot of work and I am planning to re gel coat ... I have a boat builder friend that will spray it for me after I do the repairs ... Its funny how torn I am on which one to keep .Great repair!
So, now, which boat will you keep?
