Anybody seen any systems that have waterproof speakers that could be easily secured to a Laser or any dinghy on practice days, but taken off for races? I ahve used shower radios in the past but after trashing a few, I am looking for a more effective solution.
The Swimman fully Waterproof 2nd gen iPod Shuffle is high on my wish list. It's pricey at the moment ($250).. but I think the price may come down as more cases and waterproof solutions start to pop up. A good waterproof case is really all I need for my laser along with waterproof headphones. The following are links to waterproof iPod products I've been looking at.. (fyi..I have no association or work for any of these companies).
I have an otter box and swear by it. The ipod works perfect in it. I had some waterproof headphones too, but forgot them at home and got a few real cheap in ear headphones and use them often. I also just got a GZONE phone.. fully waterproof.. no more dry bags for me..
One guy at our club has a deep cycle gel cell battery bank with alpine aqua 4 x 65w RMS head unit, in-deck quad speakers and a 10 inch sub cut into the transom. His dinghy is pimped to the max.
Just kidding.
Sony used to do fully waterproof minidiscs but their minidisc line is shrinking with the popularity of the format.
I bet a creative person could retrofit Shred Ready's CanCan earflaps onto a visor or cap, unless he doesn't mind wearing a carbon kayak helmet while sailing.
Here's what the hippest ww kayakers, at least those who don't get enough thrill from the sound of running water and are somewhat antisocial, are sporting and jamming with. http://www.shredready.com/products/faud.htm
