Looking to replace my hiking straps, can anyone recomend a web site to order them from?
So the story goes, I took my brother-in-law out this weekend and he wanted to lean out as I was so we can get more wind. As he did, he looked at me and with that twinkle in his I said "This is great!". No sooner did the word great leave his lips, I heard a SNAP! His hiking strap tore and back he went, SPLASH!
Needless to say, with 200+lbs now overboard, it was all I can do to keep her upright. All ended fine, we laughed the rest of the day and now he has a story to tell.
Anyway, any info on replacements would be helpfull.
I made some hiking straps from 2 - 2 1/2 inch webbing (no pads) at a cost of about $15, or you can save time and effort and buy them from Catalina Direct for $60.

Yea, I finally found somthing that could pass for a hiking strap at a local hardware store but did not have the padding and was only 1.5 inches wide. I ended up biting the bullet and purchased a brand-spanking-new set from Catalina for $75 including shipping. I have to install them but they are nice and wide with cushy padding and a nice color blue.
Bigsky,
I bought a 14.2 a few months ago and the previous owner called me last week to give me hiking straps he bought and never used.
I took them, of course, but have no use for them. I am too much of a sedate sailor. Plus, I don't even know how to hook them up - there seem to be 3 in this box all new and no instructions.
Anyway, I have no need for them. I live in Northern Virginia and will let you have them for the cost of shipping to where ever you live.
Are your hiking straps still available? I just purchased a Capri 14.2 and the straps are brittle and have torn in shreds. If they are how do I contact you?
