I have a 1974 Sunfish that needs a new sail pulley. I have the pulley and plate but not the ring to attach the pulley to the plate. I have been unsuccessful in finding a new/used sail pulley set. I am guessing by the online catalogs, the newer boats use a bullseye fairlead? instead? Can I replace the old sail pulley with a bullseye fairlead? The new bullseyes come with bolts not screws, so can I attach a bullseye in the same way the sail pulley would be attached? Thanks
I have not seen a boat of that vintage in a long time. But wouldn't it be easiest to just buy a new pulley (AKA block) and attach it to the plate on the deck? bb
I bought a replacement from Alan Glos on this forum. On mine, the nylon (?) pulley had been worn down, so all I had to do was screw in the replacement. you may try the hardware store for chain links ( http://www.kmsinc.net/chain-connectors.htm) or a heavy split-ring.
