Halyard knot

What is the best knot to tie wheb attaching the halyard to the spar? I have been using a clove hitch but it seems to always slide up. I do use tape above the knot but it it pushes the tape up the spar also.

I use the clove hitch to tie it on, with tape over the knot. It has always seemed to work for me. I've heard there is a special knot that is suposed to slip one way but not the other (i dont remember the name of it). Maybe someone here knows the name? Most people I've met have used the clove hitch.

Forget the clove hitch and forget the tape. Use a rolling hitch with a stopper knot!
