GPS Capable VHF Radio…Legal for Sunfish Racing

I was looking at the Standard Horizon 890 VHF handheld radio as a possibility for usage on my Sunfish and also a fishing boat, but I think it may be illegal for Sunfish racing because it’s GPS capable..thoughts?!

Great piece of gear for sailing alone or with just a few friends. And it floats with a little shiny light!

Seems the only folks that might care would be at a big Class sanctioned event, and those folks have enough rescue buddies and race committee boats that they leave every unneeded ounce ashore.

I think having a radio and/or gps on board is illegal, but I don’t know for sure. If you ask him, please post what he says. Thanks!
