I smashed my ankles once too often on the centerboard lift cam cleats. I saw in another thread where you can reroute them - but I took the low tech approach. I had some strapping from some old lawn chairs and used as 'bumpers' around each side of the cleats. They have some built in flexibility and hopefully no more banged up ankles.

there is a very popular upgrade called Mod III upgrade whereby they remove the 2 cam cleats on the bench seats and 2 turning blocks, and replace it with one cam cleat under the barney post. I have upgraded all of my Capri's with that mod and they work great.

Like to sail, I am restoring an 85 mod 1 and would love to upgrade my centerboard lift system as opposed to repairing it. Can you send some pictures showing the upgrade?

Spinner, the fix is exactly as Don S has already provided to you. I believe those are the same photos I used when I originally modified my system years ago. if you want more pics of mine, send me a direct email to ednap@comcast.net
