I just bought bare hull #PSL 16342 0674. Can anyone tell me what year it was built, where, and any other interesting info I should know about her? I'm a newbie and would appreciate it. Thanks.

Lee,

These questions can be answered by a quick visit to the Laser FAQ found at: www.drlaser.org.

However, to do it for you, your answers are below:

The first three letters determine the builder. PSL stands for Performance Sailcraft of San Rafael, California, USA. Boats with PSL as the first three letters were built there between 1971-1981.

In this case, the next five digits are your sail number. 16342 is your sail number.

The last four characters indicate when it was built and for what model year. Unfortunately, your numbers belong to an unknown code (which is a common case with boats that old.)

I would take it as meaning your boat was built in June ( June being the 6th month of the year) for the model year of 1974.
