I sail a large bay, basically a chip off of Lake Ontario. We normally get very consistent wind from the north. There is a spot, about center of the bay, that does not receive anybit of substantial wind, unless it’s really blowing. I don’t understand why. I’ve included two maps, one I marked showing estimated direction of locations. If you look at the top right, the water is covered on 3 sides by a tall land barrier, dense with trees. Yet it still recieves lots of wind. Towards the bottom, between the islands and the southwest shore (lake is North), there is also a significant amount of wind, but covered by two sides.
There are islands blocking the section I pointed out (red -receives no wind), but everywhere else that has wind is also blocked to some degree.
So why would the middle of the bay receive close to no wind?
