A decision to life the board or not has to be thought about in terms of tide as well. If you forget the tide, you could be drifting miles without the board as far down as possible.
Do people ever reef lasers? You can roll the sail once round the mast for really honking winds. But you do lose cunningham control. If you do that, you might want to take the top batten out to prevent the top of the sail from becoming fully battened, keeping alot of power very high up. I have seen reefed lasers not racing but does anyone know if it pays off?
