The upper spar keeps coming loose from the cap that connects it to the lower spar. The holes on the spar have elongated and broken open. I am thinking of cutting the spar and drilling new holes. Has anyone done this before? Is there a better solution .
I painted and have been very happy with Signature Finish http://www.signaturefinish.com/ no buffing no waxing 10 yr warranty and best of all Tom Fabula is one hell of a nice person to deal with.
If you don't want to mess with it, call Stu at Ellies Sailing Shop in 727-442-3281 in Clearwater, Florida. He will sell you a new one hand made by him, better than the original for about $75.00 + shipping. His blades are a masterpiece and it is almost a shame to use them.
STOP don't make the same mistake I did. Don't mess with gelcoat.
http://www.signaturefinish.com/ will sell you an expensive but well worth paint. The owner Tom Fabula is one hell of a nice guy and you can call him anytime for help. Follow the written instructions and you will have a new boat...
