water temp has nothing to do with it.

I usually just leave my boat floating in the water and run up the beach and run back really quickly and hope that it doesn't smash too many other boats during those 10-15 seconds :)
I've pretty much always heard a nice hum when planing really fast in dinghys (optis, 420s, lasers, etc.). I don't think it's something you really need to worry about fixing, especially if it's happening on a new boat.

Yeah the weather can roll in quickly up there. And the races aren't until late afternoon, which seems weird to me because that's when the rain/wind always comes.
