I built an A-frame out of 2x6's about 5 feet long and 5 feet tall, on the bottom of each side I cut the support that goes across the face of each side the same shape as the Sunfish side deck so that when placed deck side in against the A-frame the aluminum rail sits on the deck shaped board and...
This is my newer old style rudder, that rudder head prevents the cracks that are common in the old style blades, and it has a newer style blade. I came across this on an older hull and immediately put it on my "66" hull.
I saw that boat listed online, your keeping busy cleaning up the excess Sunfish inventory. I'm getting ready to list the last Zuma from Sequassin, but also looking at a Ray Greene Rebel 16 and, or a Schwill 16 both with nice trailers and low prices.
I needed to make a new rudder for this last Zuma I'm going to be selling because the one that came with it is split pretty bad. Had the right size mahogany board in my wood pile and used the old one as a template and started a whittlen, so to speak.
I have the sections of block that I cut out, in smaller sections of course and have them sitting in the sun. I was thinking of putting them back in, in a staggered pattern in that area after they dry out. The blob of foam in the area behind the cockpit is now the only saturated area and it's...
Thanks for ideas and comments, not sure what I'm gonna do yet, I don't like junking boats, most all things can be fixed or replaced and it doesn't cost me anymore to hang onto it for awhile. Came with new boards along with new spars and sail.
I have SLO sail covers for my Sunfish and Mistral 16 also my Vagabond 14. but also, have had Sailors Tailor covers that were awesome, and have a sunfish cover from Ebay for my Clone fish Windflite, that is great.
Oh boy, this is one of the roughest hulls I've picked up, none of the foam blocks were attached, in about 30mins I pulled out maybe thirty lbs. of soaked foam blocks. Every time I pull off the gorilla tape there's a hole. Almost looks like the foam had some infestation, with holes burrowed...
I picked up a 76 Sunfish today and the hull is a light blue, at first, I thought it was painted but the owner said it was original gel coat. The hull is waterlogged, not sure of the weight but by the look on my wife's face it was heavy, me, I pick thing up and put them down! It had a lot of dark...
Yes, getting that feeling too, especially since I'm not getting much feedback from the sellers, thanks, I trust your feedback. On another front, we're heading to lake Pontoosuc in Pittsfield Ma tomorrow to pick up a questionable hull with all new mast, rudder/tiller, daggerboard, sail and spars...
Same here, I would have to get all the parts from three sellers for this boat, one is a guy named Mel from East Hartford, you must have seen some of his ads, sells dinghies on craigslist all the time. He has the mast, but the sail track is not functional, trying to figure out how to raise the...
Here I go again, got a handle on two Flying Fishies, one has the hull boom, sail, daggerboard and boat cover. The other hull, daggerboard, rudder and tiller. I've located an original mast, but apparently the track the sail runs up is deteriorating or not functional. I think both hulls and parts...
Thanks, the bottom is Oyster white and sides are Navy blue, first several coats of a heavy sand able filling primer Then 3 coats of the other colors followed by my wife adding the red bootstripe.
