Hi all... what I have done in the past with various dinks, dings and scratches in the gel-coat that are too deep to sand out (and to be fair I believe the less gel-coat you sand away at all the better it is- the gel-coat depth is there to protect your boat I reckon?) is to mix up my vela grey...
Yes I use a cleat, its this one http://www.lasersailing.com/shop/uks/product/5204 never had a problem with it...I used one existing hole and just drilled another as the holes are slightly in the wrong place...and filled and painted the other hole black! No reinforcing
I use Gill glasses in the UK see http://www.gillmarine.com/section_header_pages/product_details.asp?id=304&sub_cat_code=23 they float (as does most/ all of their range) when lost off the head over the side, I have also added a floating strap to them too and in conjunction with a cap (tied to the...
I have been sailing a Laser for about two years now and race perhaps four times a month. I race against some top notch Laser sailors at our Club and some not so good too. I have raced in Laser Master races at the club and at first I came consistently last in almost every race...bad starts...bad...
Hi Juan,
You need a cycle drinks bottle with a hole on the neck, or a thin 'waist' to tie a length of line around the bottle tightly (I have a quick release velcro strap band that goes around the middle of the bottle). To this, or through the hole put a plastic clip/ carabiner, and simply clip...
Hi Lasailing, I went to Sunsail Colonna last May for the week. The week I went was unfortunately/ fortunately (delete as appropriate) there was 280 (non sailing) plumbers supplies reps from a plastic pipe company called Polypipe. The positives were that all boats were available to sail every...
I think your actually in the best position with the shape of these holes...e.g as they are more like slots, you can just post your patch thru with line attached and then pull back against inside...
Thanks for the info...7 years is great for a pair of boots...the crewsavers I had lasted a year before the ball of the sole wore through but i do wear them around the boat park too...so perhaps that was why they wore thru so quick.
The boots do have to put up with extremes.... wet, dryed in...
Hi all just bought a pair of Aigle boots as my old cheap Crewsaver boots have worn through and smell worse than they look!! I remember reading about some guys here mentioning they using shock cord instead of the line that comes with them to lace them up. What thickness do you use?
Any tips...
I know just what you mean seen it on my radial too, almost like a bulge like theres another mast behind the sail just after the first mast (a real fold from the top of the mast to the cunningham eye- note mines a laser/PSE sail not Intensity)...I can't quite remember what id did but it maybe...
Also when you get to the shore/ beach and leaving the boat on its launch trailer/ or dolly (for american sailors) for lunch/ or a rest (in my case) remember to disconnect the vang and untie the mainsheet at the very least...if its a new/ very good sail its best to take out the mast altogether...
yes i believe so..its the line that comes in the UK spec XD kit pack..you have to remove the standard rudder line and then thread the XD spec line thru the rudder hole and tie a couple of stop knots...I don't form a loop around the cleat as part of the tie down (only to get rid of excess line so...
My pads are the large ones 28 cms high 18.5 cm wide at top...16 cm at bottom (tapered width) my pants (or 3/4 length shorts as we call them here in blighty) are 52 cm from crotch to bottom of leg and are a large size.
I'm 6' 2" (mostly my legs) with a 36 inch waist (mostly latent stomach...
I used to have the exact same problem..was one of my pet gripes with the Laser...just watch a fleet of Lasers leaving the beach...everyone hanging over the back of the boats fiddling with purchase and rudder tie down.
I decided to get the new micro cleat after speaking to others who had tried...
Or you could buy hikers with removable adjustable batons/ pads such as the Rooster Pro Hikers see.... http://www.jdemarine.com/prohikers.htm
I have a pair of these and they are great..you can just the pads to just where you need them and the pads are available in a few sizes so you can pick the...

Hi Mark C.
The pictures of past Mast step 'repair works' on other web sites, at best look workman like...in other words it does the job and allows the Laser to be sailed again...but as you say your concerned about making yours look half decent (as I would be too)
I'm sure someone can give you...
