I had one for awhile but gave up on it. It didn't stay attached to the cockpit side wall very long (mostly from the constant jostling it would receive as I moved around) and because the water bottle strap is located so low on the pocket, and most of the water bottle is positioned above that...
I usually hang out in the Laser forum but as a former Sunfish sailor I thought you all might be interested in this link to scale models (to class specs) of Sunfishes:

I made one and they look...
You can get them here, too:

They've also got Optis and Sunfishes.
My '84 has a few more than that and no mast step reinforcement. I've been sailing it all summer with no issues. That certainly is no guarantee the whole thing won't rip out tomorrow, though.
repairs
OK, thanks for reply.

The cockpit drain, however, has a slow leak: about 2 drops every 3 seconds. The...

Put in a mast wear plate, too.
It was warm enough this weekend, so I went ahead and fiberglassed the sole crack from the inside.
In the picture, you...
Gelcoat repair result
Well, I repaired the chipped area today and despite the pitiful color matching--which happily matches all the other hull scratches--it came out pretty clean and smooth.
In retrospect, this is not really a tough job. It wet-sanded out quickly and with a little polishing...
Thanks for the info + photos, LooserLu.
Have you had any structural issues with the inspection port beside the daggerboard. I ask because its placement contradicts your diagram.
Great response time, Stick. Thanks.
The hull beam cracks are definitely not a patch-over. My photography skills are to blame here.
I've taken another pic so maybe it will help. Also some pics of the boat rigged. Notice the sail that has been folded up for at least two years.
Hello everyone.
Because my wife is the greatest person in the world, she bought a 1984 laser that i'd had my eye on for a few weeks as a b-day gift.
We did the mast step water test and gave it a good lookover and everything seemed alright, and now that I have it in my possession and have rigged...
