    Help, mast step repair

I have recently done this repair to my old laser following what was recommended here. This original repair was done many years ago to the mast step, but the mast step started to leak and water was getting in the boat. I found the wood doughnut was also wet, so I had to remove some of the old...

    Pointing

Do you have "wools" or "tell tails"? They are a must to know how the wind is flowing over your sails Steve

    Bend in the Mast

Jonno, you need a tiedown on the end of the boom to sail clew, this will help when you sheet in the sails. Just a rope, bout the thickness of the kicker rope and around 18 inches long will do it. Run this rope through the clew( metal hole in the sail where it attaches to the boom end) then...

    My Laser hull restoration review

Hey tasmeti, that job looks sweet. So you rolled and tipped 2 pac? Did it go off quick? I would sand between coats and apply 2 more coats to get it really smooth. Actually this really depends on how good the paint has covered and weather you are going to sand with 1200 grit and polish to a...

    My Laser hull restoration review

Tasmeti, my laser, now blue was previously painted at least twice before I got it. I could have just sanded and faired the surface and then just topcoated, but I chose to undercoat then apply a top coat, Only thing I should have done was add some of the blue to the undercoat to make it easier...

    My New Laser

Yep, I know what its like to break a spar from the effect of corrosion and swapping boom end for end. Didnt look hard enough, did take a 30 knot gust and two of us in the Laser to break though. When I looked after there was corrosion around the break inside and out. Spar was the orginal 1977...

    My New Laser

$1200 is what I paid for my 77 laser in 1995, it came with a road trailer worth around $2000 now, no beach dolly , knocked up one out of an old kids swing frame. My laser was an ex university boat and it showed. Been repainted twice before I got it, mast step repairs were done too. Again PWW...

    My New Laser

Hey PWW what a great find. It would be shame to put a hole in the deck to strenghten the mast step, you could always go through the bottom like these guys did. Naa just kidding. I have an old 77 laser my self, it had the step repaired at some stage. Worth it for piece of mind. Scotty
