Not mentioned is the speed of the current, is this .5 knot current or a 5 knot current? Is it coming from a river mouth or a tidal current? I.e. San Francisco bay. Pretty much stay as close to shore/ walls/piers/misc disturbances as is safe. If it’s a small current .75 knot or less than play...
