I've won a trip to Scotland in a dutch sailing magazine, and I've bought a (for me) new laser! It's a Laser radial XD with sail number 179015. Already my third laser, and I'm only 17 years old haha. :D

In very light wind you have to reduce the force in your sheet. You can do that with loosening the traveller, and it helps a lot!

I'm still training, and the temperature here is around 0 degrees Celsius, sometimes it's freezing. I wear a drysuit (which is not breathable), under the drysuit a fleece bace layer. For my feet I have warm socks. It's important to keep your head warm, and I have a special scarve. At the moment...

I heard that mountainbiking trains the same muscles as sailing. And keep sailing in winter is very important too.....

If there should be more wind at that place, you should have that stronger wind too...... Maybe he didn't sail faster, but you slower because of fewer wind, and he still had the 'good' wind.....

Here in Holland: Rolled Sail: € 635 = 868 USD not rolled: € 590 = 806,77 USD prices incl. VAT and Bag, Battens I think the prices in France are the same...... because they have the euro too.

First: it's not the same builder/dealer situation. There are more builders, for the same region: Rondar, Devoti, Nautivela, Lenam and Roga (all in Europe). Laser only has PSE for Europe, Vanguard for NA, etc... Second: I looked for the prices of a 420 mainsail, and it was almost the same...

The laser is expensive because the builder(s) and dealers have a monopoly position. For the 420 there are more builders and lower prices....

What you say is not really true. Maybe a Finn is expensive, but a Europe totally not. For less then 2000 euros you have a very nice Europe with combitrailer, ready to race.. I don't understand why there are still so many Europes in Germany. Even in Holland the Europe class is collapsed. On the...
