The towing company cannot charge more than is allowed under the Code for the towing and storage service. For most cars, less than 10,000 pounds, the flat rate for unauthorized trailer entry into someone else's property is $ 125. After 24 hours, they may charge you a daily deposit service fee of $ 25 for most cars. Deposit service fees increase based on 24-hour periods, not calendar days. Calls must be received 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
Towing companies should immediately mention the following to you.
All documents or other items that you must present when picking up your vehicle.
The charges from the moment of the call and the cost of the additional charges accumulated.
Accepted forms of payment, such as payment in cash, money order, bank check, and major credit or debit cards.
The towed vehicle can be removed within one hour after being requested; and the place where you can pay the charges and pick up the vehicle.
You do not have to pay the towing company to get your car back.
It is right to post a bond in county court within ten days of towing in the amount of the towing service bill, and the court will issue a certificate to show that you have posted the bond.
To post the bond, present the original invoice; the towing company must provide you with a receipt if you request it and two copies with the Orange County Courthouse.
After presenting the court certificate to the towing company, they must deliver your vehicle to you immediately.
