What ratio purchase should I use for the downhaul?

I have replaced the cascaded downhaul with a simple double block system and now get a full amount of travel. What ratio purchase should I use for the downhaul? And is it a good idea to get rid of the cascaded system?

I use a 6:1 (3:1 pulling on a 2:1 through the sail grommet) and have no problems pulling it tight enough and I have enough travel to get it below the boom if I wanted to.
