time to replace tiller extension?

The rubber flex where my extension meets the tiller is cracked (down to the wire inside.) Does this necessitate having to replace the entire extension? Also, What is the best way to keep the trailer mechanisms in good shape, wd40? Thanks.

Nope. You can buy just the rubber universal joint from any number of places. For example: http://apsltd.com/Tree/d3000/e1088.asp
You will probably want to try and get a new part that's the same as the one currently on your boat (it makes the replacement easier). It's likely that you have an RWO universal. They just slide into place under a snap-on cover.

Which part of the trailer? The wheel bearings (for example) need heavy grease.
