Starburst one only one side of the sail?

Hey everyone!
I just unflaked my new full, I got it from my old coach, whose had it for a few years, and when I bought it, he told me it was the "old" style cut... It looks the exact same as all of my other practice sails, and its definitely less than 5 years old. Is there truth to this different cut? Also, I realized that the starburst is only on one side of the sail, in my case its the port side... Have I just been missing every sail I look at? Or is this just something with fulls?

From what I've been told, the older sails only have it on one side, in my case mine does on port side as well. As far as the different cut I don't think it has changed, the material may have, but I don't think it has or this class would be like the Sunfish class with two different cuts (Race and Standard). I may be wrong but thats what I have heard.
