SS Disc / Mast Step Repair Question...

I'm going to repair/reinforce my mast step and install a stailess steel disc this weekend. Question is, should I reinforce the mast step first (from inside with fiberglass/resin) then install the disc or vise versa?

The mast step is worn through on one side at the base and doesn't hold water.

Please let me know as I leave for the cottage tonight! TIA

Resin/glass first, then disk. Try to get the tube watertight prior to adding the disk
