sealant for the drain plug

I am replacing the drain plug (I think it is also called bung) in my Laser 2. What is the best sealant to use between the fiberglass hull and the plastic of the drain hole flange?

If this is the drain in the transom that is held w/ 2 screws or rivets, you can use any good marine silicone or marine caulk.

Yes in the transom. Held with 2 screws.

I guess the stuff I use to seal the shower is not up to the task?

I think the *silicone* stuff you use in the shower will be fine. Latex caulk would be a mistake.
