sailing around Murphy NC?

Since NC is the topic, is there frostbiting near the outer banks? Will be down last week in April to windsurf and will take laser if I can find racing.
 
Mike,

Lake Lanier (just northeast of Atlanta) and Lake Allatoona (just northwest of Atlanta) are each about 2 hours south of Murphy. Lake Chatuge (Hiawassee) is about an hour east of Murphy.

Probably not as close as you hoped.....
 
Check out the Lake Norman Yacht Club just North of Charlotte, NC. They have a Laser fleet.
 
Outer Banks. The closest thing you'll find is a Masters regatta in June in Oriental, NC.
 
Thanks for the tips on locations. Oriental is in the neighborhood, but probably too much work getting there from Hatteras Island. I will check the D 12 site, but I think I did and found little. Thus, I was prompted to jump into this thread. Will check again though. Thanks.
 
While finding a regatta would be the icing on the cake - I'd be perfectly happy to know that there are lakes around Murphy that have enough open water to be sailable!
