Sail patching tape

Does anyone know if colored "Duck" brand duct tape would work as a patch for sails? Much cheaper at wal-mart than the tape usually used for sail patches.
 
Don't be cheap. Get some real sail repair tape, in the proper color and make it look nice. An assortment of colored sail cloth is relatively cheap.
 
Well, all I've seen is about $12 per roll, plus shipping I assume. I need white and yellow. I only have to patch several small wear-holes that are only about 1/4" diameter. I don't need that much tape.

What material is sail tape made of? Nylon?
