Road Trailer (UK)

I've had several and they've been fine. Probably the best are Sovereign but they are usually a fair bit more expensive.

I'm very happy with the one I got from Laser Direct. Only slight negative is that teh trolley tubes seem to hold water well but other than that it seems great.

Interested to know what the problems are with it.

Is Sovereign the one that's the trailer/dolly combo? The trailer I'm thinking of has a dolly that slips right into the trailer frame, allowing you to get on the road quickly. This is not some home-made contraption but a professionally built product. I've seen a handful of them in the US. I'd kill to get my hands on one.

So the one from laser direct you have - is it this one:

It's the one I've got that works fine/well/etc.. Though the link above is actually only for the road base and for it to work you need the trolley as well (a gunwale hung trolley). The system works well on the road but the gunwale hung trolley can be a bit harder recovering from the water in rougher sea or windier conditions. However, I think it (that type of design) probably better for the boat as the bulk of its time (sitting in the dinghy park) the hull is not resting on anything, etc..)

Trolley part might be http://www.lasersailing.com/shop/uks/product/5329 (but they site seems to have become "unresponsive" at the moment.

I have the lasersailing combi trailer and it is great for towing but I have damaged my boat trying to recover it with the trolley in rough weather.
When I am in the States I have a seitech trolley (dolly) and this is great for recovery as it uses a strap under the hull rather than two bearers.
It is not designed as a combi though, but in the States I do not tow anywhere.
