Old "First Production Year" Laser on EBAY

There is an old Laser up for auction on EBAY. The seller claims it was the first production year of 1971. Is this correct? The photo shows a sail with a number "2" on it. Now I know any sail can be put on any hull, but is it even possible that this could be boat #2??

That is a pre-75, judging by the metal gudgeons. The boards and deck have been painted, maybe the hull also. Lack of cockpit rails is odd, probably removed and filled when the deck was painted. (I had 1041 with wood rails.)

It's not No. 2, nor much of a collector's item, due to all the paint, newer spars, etc. (They didn't start the numbers at 1, but at 100 I think).

But, for US$900. someone could have a heck of a lot of fun!
