News NA Masters

I had the opportunity to visit the site of this year's NA Masters in Fort Walton Beach and review the plan with Britt Drake, who has been doing a great job organizing what should be an outstanding event.

Our headquarters will be at the Ramada Inn located on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico. Rates for the event are negotiated to be in the 100 to 120 dollar range. Not bad for beach front property with lots of amenities, including a gigantic hot tub! Adjacent to the Ramada are restaurants where we will have our Friday evening dinner. Saturday we will dine in the "penthouse" banquet room of the Ramada.

As for the sailing, the plan is to take your trailer to an area on the beach in front of the Ramada, using a four wheel drive vehicle. There you will be able to put the boat on your dolly and rig for the regatta. There will be hoses run to the beach for use after each day's racing. Launching and recovery through the surf should not be much of an issue and should not deter your enthusiasm for attending. And if conditions are such that launching is too dangerous, there is an alternative venue for sailing in the bay from a beach area across the street from the Ramada.

As more incentive for you to come sail in the beautiful Gulf and enjoy the spring breeze and beautiful beach, there are plans to have a raffle for a new Laser.

The NOR, SI's and registration are now available at

Don't miss this -- it's going to be great sailing at a great location with great folks!
