Movement of Mast

I noticed my mast seems to have a lot of 'play' while in the mast mount, especially when the spars are dismounted. Is there a boot of some sort to put on the bottom part of the mast to take some of the play out of it? I suppose I could put tape or something temporary around the bottom of the mast but a more permanent boot would be better.

To allow the mast to rotate in the mast hole/step, there has to be quite a bit of play, but Vanguard does made a sleeve that you insert into the mast step the reduces the play somewhat and still allows the mast to rotate freely. I have one and it works well. However, i just looked at the APS Catalog and did not see one. Maybe they are out of production. Anybody know where to get this part?

Alan, I don't know about buying a part for it, but I know several other people have mentioned using a flexible 3-ring binder cover - maybe cut off/remove the 3-ring portion, and wrap the flexible plastic around the mast. I haven't done it myself, though.

All you need is one flap and even that gets trimmed some.
