I have an AMF Alcort sailfish. I checked the model year on the identification code on the top right molded code on on the stern of the hull. The model year says its from 1978 but most websites say they stopped making them in 1975. I was really confused when I found that my boat has the old style of the rudder and no storage compartment. What I found online says that would predate the boat to around 1969. I am confused and would like help. Here is most of the numbers if it helps AMF59xxxm78D

Where were you expecting to find a storage compartment on a Sailfish?

The Super Sailfish MKII (fiberglass) uses the "old style" rudder because the transom is so small, compared to a transom on a fiberglass SUNFISH. My understanding is that they made MKIIs on and off through the late 70s. And the storage compartment discussion only relates to the fiberglass Sunfish.
